bankchurn.fyi keeps what you tell it on your device. You don't need an account, there are no ads or analytics scripts or trackers, the planner, tracker, and privacy pages set no cookies, and your planner details and tracked bonuses are never sent to us.
What stays on your device
- Planner details. When you build a plan, your state, the cash you enter, whether you can route direct deposits, and the kinds of account you search are saved in your browser's local storage so the planner remembers them. Your plan is worked out on your device.
- Tracker. Each bonus you track is saved in your browser's IndexedDB database: the bank and account type, its dates, amounts, balance and fee terms, requirements, deposit log, status, and notes.
- App files. The site's pages, styles, scripts, icons, and app manifest are cached so the pages open offline. This cache holds only the site's own files, not your planner details or tracked bonuses. When you are online, the app also asks the server for newer copies of these files each time you open it.
Your browser keeps this data on this device, apart from any copy you export. The site has no visitor accounts and no sync, so the data does not move to your other devices. The site never sends it to us, so we do not see it and cannot recover it for you.
What our server sees
To show offers, your browser downloads the full list of current offers each time you build a plan, and each time you open the planner after your details are saved. That request asks for the same list for everyone and carries none of your planner details or tracker data, though like every request it includes your IP address and browser headers (see Hosting and logs). The offers you qualify for are picked out on your device.
Hosting and logs
The site runs on Cloudflare, which receives your IP address and the standard information your browser sends with every request (such as its type, version, and language) when it delivers the site.
Cloudflare Workers Logs record every request that reaches our code: the offer list download, and any address on the site that has no file behind it, such as a mistyped link or an icon your browser looks for on its own. Each entry holds the time, the address requested, the headers your browser sent, your IP address, and the approximate location and network Cloudflare works out from that address (such as country, region, city, postal code, approximate latitude and longitude, time zone, and internet provider). These logs are kept for up to 7 days.
Cloudflare's dashboard also shows us statistics for every request to the site, including pages, styles, and scripts, and a sample of individual requests with their IP address, country, browser, and address requested.
Cloudflare also asks your browser to report failed connections to this site (Network Error Logging). If a request fails, your browser sends Cloudflare a short report about it at a.nel.cloudflare.com, with the failed address, your browser details, and your IP address. These reports never include your planner details or tracked bonuses.
We use the Workers Logs and dashboard statistics described above only to find and fix problems. Cloudflare's own handling of request data is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Admin page
The admin page at /admin is only for the site owner and is protected by Cloudflare Access. If you open it, Cloudflare shows its sign-in page and sets its own security cookies: CF_AppSession on bankchurn.fyi for 24 hours, and sign-in cookies on Cloudflare's login domain. For those 24 hours your browser also sends CF_AppSession with its other requests to bankchurn.fyi, including the offer list download. The admin page handles only offer details, never visitor data.
Export and import
Export saves your tracker as a JSON file through your device's share sheet or as a download. Where that file goes is up to you, and anyone who has it can read your tracker data. Import reads a file you choose on your device; it is not uploaded.
Links to banks and brokers
Offer links go to the address we entered for each offer, which we take from the bank's or broker's own offer page, and your browser tells that site you came from bankchurn.fyi. Once you are there, that site's privacy policy applies.
Removing your data
- To delete a single bonus, open it in the tracker and tap Delete.
- To remove everything the site has saved on this device (planner details, tracked bonuses, and cached app files), clear the site data for bankchurn.fyi in your browser's settings. If you use bankchurn.fyi from your iPhone or iPad home screen, deleting it from the home screen erases the data saved in that home screen app.
This does not delete files you have exported, or the logs and statistics described above, which Cloudflare deletes on its own schedule (Workers Logs after at most 7 days). Export your tracker first if you want to keep a copy.
Changes
This page changes whenever what the site stores or sends changes, and the date at the top shows the latest update.
